“The thing women have yet to learn is nobody gives you power, you just take it.”

“We both have war inside us. Sometimes it keeps us alive. Sometimes it threatens to destroy us.”

“It’s so strange how life works: You want something and you wait and wait and feel like it’s taking forever to come. Then it happens and it’s over and all you want to do is curl back up in that moment before things changed.”
Lauren Oliver, Delirium (via h1-b4)
“Most of us ask for advice when we know the answer but we want a different one.”
The guilt you feel after you’ve been complaining about the heat and fasting and then you hear a poor old man say, “why should I complain about something that I will get a higher reward for?" This hit me so hard.
I am living in an air-conditioned house where I don’t have to do any of the work and sleep most of the day yet I’m complaining where as, that man is poor, living without any electricity in this horribly hot and humid weather doing hard labour and he still isn’t complaining, at all. All he said was that patience was the whole idea behind fasting and that the pleasure he gets when he sips that chilled water after hours of fasting is something we will never understand. That’s faith.
